Big Swings Inc. is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization bringing the community together through baseball, softball, and unforgettable events.

Big Swings was founded by Alex Faulker and Justin Salisbury with a simple belief: our kids and our community deserve places they can be proud of.

As members of the community, we saw the potential in our local parks and athletic facilities. We also saw areas that needed attention, investment, and people willing to step forward and help.

Instead of continuing to talk about what could be better, we decided to do something about it.

That's how Big Swings began.

Big Swings is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to restoring, improving, and investing in the parks, athletic fields, and recreational spaces that bring our community together.

For us, this isn't simply about fixing a baseball field or replacing a piece of equipment. It's about creating places where kids can fall in love with a sport, where teammates become lifelong friends, where parents cheer from the sidelines, and where families make memories they'll carry with them for years.

Our First Big Swing

Our journey starts at Sherman Park in Ortonville, Michigan.

Sherman Park has been part of this community for generations, and we believe it deserves a future just as meaningful as its past.

Our initial focus is helping restore and improve the baseball and softball fields, but our vision is bigger than the ball fields. We want to help improve the park as a whole—from the basketball courts and playground areas to other spaces that can bring kids, families, and neighbors together.

The Ortonville Home Run Derby Under the Lights represents our first major step toward that goal.

It's more than a fundraiser. It's an opportunity to bring our community together, have some fun, create memories, and show what's possible when people rally behind something they believe in.

This Is Our Community

Big Swings may have been founded by two people, but it was never meant to be about two people.

It's about all of us.

Every volunteer who gives their time. Every business that becomes a sponsor. Every person who makes a donation. Every family that attends an event. And every kid who eventually gets to step onto a better field, court, or playground because people in their community cared enough to make it happen.

We know these improvements won't happen overnight. But we're willing to put in the work, organize the events, raise the funds, build the partnerships, and keep showing up.

Because these are more than just parks.

They're where childhood happens.

They're where kids learn to compete, work together, win, lose, get back up, and try again. They're where friendships begin and where some of our favorite memories are made.

That's what Big Swings is about.

Making a difference. Building something that lasts. And leaving our community a little better than we found it.
